Retrofit / renovation of automatic logistics plants
Initial situations from my experience :
Historically grown automatic logistics plants and systems no longer provide the required level of productivity. The reasons for this are the changes in logistics strategies, transport units, lot sizes etc.
By the substitution of antiquated conveyor components (conveyor plants, engines, load suspension devices etc) and the addition of new, state-of-the-art conveyor components, existing plants can be brought up to date. The advantage for the plant operator lies within the modernisation of the plant and the resultant increase in productivity at considerably lower costs in relation to the purchase of new corresponding equipment.
LANGE CONSULTING possesses extensive experience in the planning and implementation of the renovation of an automatic logistics plant or system.
Approach:
- Analysis of the processes, structures and logistics systems,
- Survey of customer expectations, market and competition,
- Evaluation of weak points and gap analysis,
- Identification of areas of potential,
- Development of a rough concept
- Implementation planning
Results:
- Optimisation of existing plant components
- Adaptation of the plant to accommodate new or changed products
- Increase in unit number and cycle time
- Lower investment costs compared with the installation of new equipment/plant
- Replacement of assembly groups where spare parts are no longer available
- Retrofitting of automisation technology, e. g. programmable logic controllers
- Material replacement by more wear-resistant alternatives such as stainless steel
- Use of frequency converters on electrical drives to increase efficiency, e. g. energy savings
