Transport optimisation
Initial situations from my experience:
- Historically grown transport networks which have not been fundamentally optimised in recent years, ,
- Indications of considerable saving potentials by means of benchmarks or other business comparisons,
- Continuously rising logistics costs,
- Transport tariffs which have remained unchanged for a long period,
- Large increase in quantities, new sites or new products,
- Responsibility for transport costs is not borne by own company,
- Truck capacity utilized only to a low extent.
Approach:
Permanently maintained benchmarks enable a very rapid potential evaluation by LANGE CONSULTING .
- Examination of transport strategy/ management processes,
- Evaluation and internal/external benchmark of transport costs,
- Identification and coordination of areas of potential,
- Development of a new concept and implementation planning,
- Realisation of Quick-wins and support in implementation.
Results:
Reductions in transport costs by up to 15-20 % are brought about by:
- Introduction of new supply methods,
- Change/optimisation of transport structure, consolidation, frequencies, milkruns etc.,
- New requests for tender for transports,
- Introduction of a regular transport planning,
- Re-design of the transport management process and system,
- Assumption of additional responsibility for transport in order to utilize synergies,
- Optimisation of loading and transport equipment and partial sub-contracting of transport management.
